About ETIAS
In 2018 the European Commission initiated a new European Travel Information and Authorization System that will be launched in November 2025. By introducing the ETIAS system, the EU intends to increase its capabilities to curb external threats and enhance the Union’s security.
Since 2010 Brazilian citizens enjoy visa-free travel to the EU/Schengen Area. Once the system is fully operational, you will need to fill out the application form and submit it alongside the copy of your Biometric Passport. You can read more information about ETIAS requirements here.
In 2015 Brazil started to issue new Biometric Passports that fully comply with the ICAO Standards. If your passport was issued before 2015, you must renew it to be eligible for ETIAS authorization. This is because the ETIAS travel permit will be automatically assigned to the embedded chip of your passport.
